The Asturias Institute of Legal Medicine is investigating the causes of death of a

40-year-old woman

who had received the AstraZeneca vaccine

a week before her death

, although the Principality's pharmacovigilance network has not received notification of the possible relationship with the drug.

Sources from the Ministry of the Presidency of the Principality have specified to Efe that the Institute of Legal Medicine began the investigation after

the doctor who treated the woman did not sign the death certificate as he did not appreciate an obvious cause

of death.

These investigations occur whenever the doctor does not sign the death certificate and in this case "it happens" that the woman had received the vaccine a few days before.

The Ministry of Health has assured Efe that the pharmacovigilance network has not received any notification about this death, which

occurred at the end of February

, according to what the Television of the Principality of Asturias (TPA) announced this Friday, which has pointed out that the woman died of a

cardiac arrest without having previous pathologies

and without the autopsy detecting thrombi.

According to the Ministry of Health, the pharmacovigilance system receives any suspected reaction to vaccines, no matter how minimal, and so far no causal relationship with any serious case has been detected since the Covid vaccination campaign began. -19 at the end of December.

In statements to the TPA, the director of the Institute of Legal Medicine of Asturias, María Antonia Martínez, explained that the doctor did not sign the death certificate because

"he considered that possibly" death was "a consequence of the fact that this person had been vaccinated. ".

For this reason, the investigation was requested and an autopsy was carried out, which is now under investigation,

pending the results of the National Institute of Toxicology

to confirm or rule out an adverse reaction.

In the case of the professor from Marbella (Málaga) who died of a cerebral hemorrhage two weeks after receiving the first dose of AstraZeneca, which was communicated to the pharmacovigilance network of the Junta de Andalucía, the clinical autopsy indicates that the vaccine is not related to his death
