Inscription: If “waking up and shaking the world” 35 years ago was a gift of fate, then the important gains today are more like the success of the country and the nation.

Archaeological excavations of 6 "sacrifice pits" "in progress".

These "sacrifice pits" ranging from 3.5 square meters to 19 square meters are like "time and space capsules" that carry the spiritual beliefs of ancient Shu ancestors. With a very small space, a civilization that is originally magnificent to the extreme Condensed, solidified, buried, blooming in the hands of archaeologists 3000 years later.

Fragments of the golden mask discovered this time

This is a kind of blooming speed visible to the naked eye-the cultural relics data used for press releases are updated every day, rising continuously in just a few days.

As far as the current situation is concerned, no one will doubt that the Sanxingdui site will once again refresh people's understanding of it with brilliant archaeological discoveries.

The bronze found this time

Numbered from No. 3 to No. 8, these "sacrifice pits" tell more than just a civilization legend.

Not far from them, is the No. 1 and No. 2 "sacrifice pits" that "woke up and shocked the world" in 1986.

35 years have passed, and the "sacrifice pit" a few steps away reflects an evocative grand history.

Looking back on the two excavations conducted here, we will see many stories other than "treasure digging".

"Excavation capsule" appeared on the archaeological site

The archaeological excavation site in our impression is that the archaeological team is digging and digging with a small shovel, like this——

Archaeological excavation site in 1986 (provided by archaeologist Chen De'an)

"A few minutes later, the big truck stopped at the excavation site, and 30 or so armed police soldiers jumped from the vehicle, and quickly surrounded our excavation site. Only then did I breathe a sigh of relief and felt relaxed. Archaeologist Chen Xiandan recalled his experience during the excavation of No. 1 "Sacrificial Pit".

In 1986, the news that the archaeological team dug up the "treasure" spread like wildfire. Within a few hours, thousands of people were attracted to watch the excitement. At that time, the archaeological team could only turn to the armed police and the police.

Heavy rain, scorching sun, safety of cultural relics... all the factors that archaeologists need to consider at the time, so that they rushed to excavate day and night.

Today, when we are at the archaeological excavation site of the Sanxingdui site, we will have the illusion of traveling through time and space——

Archaeological team working in the "archaeological cabin"

The excavation site was covered by a large-span steel structure greenhouse, and six "sacrifice pits" were covered by several transparent glass houses inside. This "archaeological cabin" that can control temperature and humidity and is filled with various equipment, the staff Work in protective clothing.

The laboratory has been "moved forward" to the archaeological site, and the necessary advanced equipment is readily available, and the unearthed cultural relics can be protected and studied in the first place.

Such equipment is not for "show off".

Tang Fei, dean of the Sichuan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, told us that carrying out excavations in such an "archaeological cabin" can not only control the temperature and humidity of the excavation site, but also reduce the amount of modern information brought by the staff and create conditions for the preservation of scientific research. .

Why did the "luxury lineup" come to Sanxingdui?

In 35 years, it is not only hardware equipment that has been upgraded.

In the black ashes of the "sacrifice pit", silk product residues invisible to the naked eye were extracted.

"This is a very important discovery, indicating that ancient Shu is one of the important origins of ancient Chinese silk." Tang Fei said.

Exquisite cultural relics will attract attention, but such "invisible" results are even harder to come by.

Their discoveries not only benefited from the application of various “black technologies”, but also that this archaeological excavation broke the limitations of archaeological research carried out on a geographical basis in the past. It has rarely concentrated the power of top domestic archaeological research institutions and formed many Open platform for subject cooperation.

Many unexpected people are busy at the archaeological site of the Sanxingdui site-this is a multi-disciplinary project including cultural relics protection technology, physical anthropology, zoology, botany, environmental science, metallurgy, geology, chemistry, materials science, etc. Interdisciplinary innovation research team.

The "luxury" lineup is to dig out more "treasures"-precious cultural relics visible to the naked eye, and historical information invisible to the naked eye.

In the eyes of professionals, the latter is no less important than the former.

Because only when the two are combined can it be possible to restore the full picture of a civilization more vividly, to perceive the joys and sorrows performed here thousands of years ago, and to help answer the question of "where do we come from?"

"If you dig like this, you will only lose money."

Chen Xiandan once recalled that in July 1986, at the initial stage of the excavation work, local farmers saw that almost all the things they dug out were "broken pottery pieces" and some "useless stones", so they told the archaeologists : "Dig like this, you will only lose money. What's the use of digging these things!"

A joke, but the mentality of doubt and incomprehension is very obvious.

More tough questions. Chen Xiandan also has a record. Under the condition that heavyweight cultural relics were unearthed one after another, the archaeological team had to allow farmers to eat at the local request that “farmers want to eat. Earth-drawing and burning bricks were restored near the "sacrifice pit".

These doubts are not surprising in the age of working to solve the problem of food and clothing and rushing towards prosperity.

These pressures turned into motivation, prompting Chen Xiandan and his colleagues to work in a "rescue" rhythm.

The cultural relics discovered this time

Today’s archaeology is no longer a “rescue”, but a scientific operation supported by all parties. Before this archaeological excavation, with the support of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, the Sichuan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology successively invited experts from various fields across the country to hold meetings. More than 10 domestic scientific research institutions, including the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, and Sichuan University, have jointly compiled various plans including the Sanxingdui Sacrificial Archaeological Excavation Plan.

Today, you and I will no longer use whether to "lost money" to measure archaeology.

People already know what the roots of civilization mean to their future.

At the moment when food and clothing are no longer a universal problem, a nation that is determined to rejuvenate will inevitably turn its attention from others to itself, from the outside to the heart, and from the material to the spirit.

The splendor of Sanxingdui is being discovered and interpreted step by step; there will be new chapters in the civilization legend of the land of China.

Not here, but there, like a sky full of stars, shining brightly.
