In an urgent procedure, the Higher Administrative Court in Lüneburg overturned a rigid five-person limit in the regulations on the corona contact restrictions in Lower Saxony.

The rule, which is also laid down in it, according to which a maximum of members of two households may come together, was left untouched by the judges in their decision announced on Friday.

A family man with three children over 14 years of age had sued.

The man argued, according to the court, that he, along with his wife and children, was already reaching the five-person limit.

It is therefore impossible for the family to meet other people.

According to the ordinance, exceptions to the five-person rule are only defined for children under the age of 14; these then do not count.

This does not apply to older household members.

The district administrator of the Brandenburg district of Elbe-Elster, Christian Heinrich-Jaschinski (CDU), considers critics of the corona restrictions as a possible cause of the increase in the number of infections.

"In the district we have tendencies of lateral thinkers, imperial citizens and corona deniers of different stripes," he told the "Märkische Allgemeine" (Friday).

"That makes things more difficult and is certainly part of the explanation for the high numbers."
