(Fighting New Coronary Pneumonia) 13 new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in Hong Kong
China News Service, Hong Kong, March 19 (Reporter Han Xingtong) On March 19, Hong Kong added 13 new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia. Among the cases of unknown origin, a 23-year-old man was diagnosed with 4 family members in February. She was admitted to the quarantine center and tested negative for many times. The SAR government needs to perform antibody tests on the patient to determine whether she has been infected earlier.
Of the 13 newly confirmed cases, 3 were imported cases. A confirmed patient from the Philippines was found to have the variant virus N501Y.
The remaining 10 cases were local cases, of which 4 were of unknown origin and 6 were related cases. All patients were diagnosed in the quarantine center, including 3 cases involving the Ursus Fitness gym group. The cumulative number of confirmed cases in this group increased to 138.
The case of unknown origin involves a 23-year-old man who lives in South Horizons and works in the Central Plaza of Shatin New Town. The last date of work is March 16.
Fever started on March 17.
Zhang Zhujun, director of the Infectious Diseases Division of the Center for Health Protection of the Department of Health, said that four of the man’s family members had become ill as early as February and were diagnosed one after another. He was listed as a close contact at the time. Isolation, during which several test results were negative.
Zhang Zhujun said that the Ct value of the test sample submitted by the man was very high, greater than 30 (the higher the Ct value, the lower the amount of virus in the patient).
She believes that it cannot be ruled out that he had been infected by his family earlier but could not be detected at the quarantine center. Therefore, the hospital will conduct an antibody test for him to confirm whether he is a new case of infection.
On the same day, a 62-year-old housewife was diagnosed. She lives in Pingtian Village, Lantian with her family. She usually dines at a restaurant called Chaofu Lobster Specialty Store near her home and chats with the neighborhood.
Zhang Zhujun said that a neighbour at the same scene was initially diagnosed.
Another 36-year-old man was diagnosed. He was working on the 5th floor of Island East Centre. The building had two cases on different floors earlier, both of which were related to the Ursus Fitness gym.
Zhang Zhujun said that for the sake of prudence, the entire building will be included in the mandatory testing announcement.
He Wanxia, Chief Administrative Manager (Patient Safety and Risk Management) of the Hong Kong Hospital Authority, as of 9 am, in the past 24 hours, 12 more confirmed patients have recovered and been discharged. So far, a total of 10,837 patients have recovered and discharged.
There are still 280 confirmed patients in 19 public hospitals and the Hong Kong Infection Control Center of North Lantau Hospital. 10 of them are in critical condition, 10 are in serious condition, and the rest are in stable condition.
