While the Covid-19 epidemic has made a significant rise in recent days in Pays-de-la-Loire, the regional health agency (ARS) announced on Thursday that three large vaccination centers, with a capacity much larger than those currently open, should be developed in Loire-Atlantique, Maine-et-Loire and Sarthe, probably in Nantes, Angers and Le Mans.

Their opening is expected for the "first week of April".

These vaccinodromes, or "gigacentres", would have the capacity to treat 10,000 injections per week, where the largest vaccination center in Pays-de-la-Loire, that of Nantes-Nord, now manages 2,800 per week. , indicates the ARS.

A convention center, a Zenith?

It will therefore be necessary to find places large enough to accommodate a large number of people both for the injection and then for the waiting phase (approximately 15 minutes).

This could be an exhibition center, a convention center or a large concert hall, for example.

"The sites are being studied with the local authorities", specifies the ARS.

The opening of these vaccinodromes will be made possible by a "very significant increase" in vaccine deliveries from April, indicates the ARS.

To date, the vaccination coverage of the general population amounts to 7.8% in Pays-de-la-Loire.

It reaches 40% in people over 75 years old and even climbs to 90% in nursing home residents.

In Marseille, a vaccinodrome opened Tuesday at the Velodrome stadium.

In Toulon, it was installed in a Zenith.
