The first global coalition to unleash the potential of algae is launched this week by the United Nations Global Compact, the CNRS and the Lloyd's Register Foundation.

Algae are very nutritious foods, they store carbon, they can replace fertilizers and pesticides, feed animals, aggregate our food and our medicines… In short, the outlets are endless and their impact is minimal.

So what are we waiting for?

After Asia, which has never ceased to exploit them, will Africa be the new continent of seaweed farming?
