This year, pandemic obliges, the Winter Carnival of Quebec has bet on ice sculptures close to citizens in each district of the city.

Seen from abroad, Quebec looks like a huge snowy playground, where its inhabitants have fun like crazy during the cold season which lasts a good 5 months.

However, a good part of the inhabitants of this French-speaking region of Canada contrive to deny winter.

They endure temperatures of -10 or -20 degrees, numerous snowfalls, episodes of freezing rain after winter at the wheel of their car.

And flee as much as possible to Florida or Cuba.

Except this year, of course.

The closure of restaurants, cinemas, bars and sports halls condemns them to storm the ice rinks, cross-country ski trails and toboggan runs in the heart of the city.
