Toulouse welcomes transfers of Covid-19 patients -

It is a series of planes that the caregivers and air traffic controllers would have done well without.

One year after the first wave of coronavirus, the Samu 31 teams found their way back to the Toulouse tarmac to welcome patients from the Paca region or even Île-de-France.

This Tuesday, it is three men aged 53 to 70 years.

Over the past two weeks, eleven people from Nice or Île-de-France have landed in the Pink City, before being redispatched throughout the departments of Midi-Pyrénées.

And over the next few days, these supports will multiply.

“Over the three weeks, around 45 people are expected in the western region of Occitanie, at the rate of around fifteen patients per week.

They are distributed over all the public and private establishments under Samu 31 regulation, according to the mobilizable capacities of each of them and the state of health of the patients ”, explains Marie-Pierre Nunez, of the Agency. regional health.

After a drop, hospitalizations resumed

While in some regions, resuscitation services have Covid-19 patient occupancy rates that exceed 110%, as in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, it is less than 45% in Occitanie.

This makes it possible to unclog the parts of the territory which are finding it increasingly difficult to cope.

A less epidemic situation which can be explained by several factors.

“In Haute-Garonne, we learned the lessons from the first wave.

We worked on prevention, with actions that did not please such as closing the banks.

The hospital fabric is also better organized than it has been, with a homogeneous distribution of patients throughout the West Occitanie population basin.

Those who arrive are also sprinkled all over the place to avoid congestion, ”explains Professor Vincent Bounes, the boss of Samu 31.

Still, the improvement that seemed to be topical in this corner of France a fortnight ago seems to be darkening again.

This Tuesday, 136 patients were hospitalized at Toulouse University Hospital for coronavirus, including 30 in intensive care and 24 in intensive care.

That's 20 more than last week.

We are still far from saturation, since the intensive care capacity is 100 beds at the Toulouse University Hospital.

But this concerns patients also suffering from other pathologies.

And even if the trauma due to sports weekends or drunken evenings are less numerous, there are still cardiac or domestic accidents to be taken care of.
