The European Parliament has granted the request issued by the Spanish Supreme Court to lift the parliamentary immunity enjoyed by Puigdemont, Comín and Ponsatí, investigated in the case of the so-called

, who self-subtracted from the action of the Spanish justice by fleeing to Belgium the the first two and the second to the United Kingdom. As European parliamentarians, all of them enjoyed the immunity afforded by their status in the exercise of their functions.
