Chadwick Boseman, a posthumous Oscar?

Minari

, by Lee Isaac Chung.

One of the surprises on the list of nominations is certainly the feat of Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania.

The man who sold his skin

, whose actor Yahya Mahayni won the prize for Best Male Performance in Venice, is in the home stretch for the race for the most prestigious international film trophy.

For the first time in the history of Tunisian cinema, it offers its country a presence on the final list of Oscar nominations.

On the other hand,

La Nuit des Rois

, by Franco-Ivorian director Philippe Lacôte, failed to take the last step towards the Oscars.

In the category Best International film also maintains

Quo Vadis, Aida?

, by Jasmila Zbanic.

Left without a prize from the Mostra 2020, she hopes to win the Oscar for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Drunk

, by Danish director Thomas Vinterberg, with Mads Mikkelsen in the title role, also keeps his chances and remains, with the animated film

Over The Moon

, by Glen Keane, Gennie Rim and Peilin Chou, the only film with the Cannes 2020 label still competing in the major categories for the Oscars.

Netflix and the Mostra are doing well

In this year of crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the world of cinema has been profoundly disrupted.

Among the festivals is the Festival which pulled out of the game with several films selected for Venice (

Nomadland

,

Quo Vadis Aida?

,

The man who sold his skin

, Vanessa Kirby for his performance in

Pieces Of A Woman

) who remain in the race for the Oscars.

But it is above all the platforms that have benefited from this year marked by the confinements and closures of movie theaters.

Unsurprisingly, Netflix tops the list with Aaron Sorkin's judicial drama around the Vietnam War,

The Chicago Seven

, but also with David Fincher's homage to the golden age of 'Hollywood,

Mank

, and

The Blues of Ma Rainey

, directed by George C. Wolfe and released in 2020 on Netflix.

On the other hand, other platforms like Amazon Prime Video and Disney + also establish themselves on the final list of nominations with

One Night In Miami

,

Soul

 and

Borat 2

which had already made a triumph at the Golden Globes.
