[Explanation] Hainan's betel nut fruit purchase price set a record high in 2020. Although March 2021 enters the end of picking, the price is still at a high level, and the annual income of Hainan betel nut growers has doubled.
When it comes to prices, many farmers are smiling.
Hainan betel nut grower Wang Huaijun said that he has never seen the market of betel nut in 2020 for more than 20 years, and the purchase price of betel nut fruit in 2020 is up to nearly 24 yuan per catty.
More than 10,000 fruit-bearing betel nut trees made a net profit of about 1.5 million yuan, three times the income of 2019.
Hainan betel nut grower Chen Zhibo planted more than 4,000 betel nuts, of which more than 2,000 were suffering from betel nut yellowing disease, which caused a 40% reduction in the harvesting season. However, the income in 2020 is still considerable, reaching about 230,000 yuan.
Growing households have a bulging pocket, and they start buying houses, cars, processing factories, and traveling to enrich their material and spiritual lives.

According to Chen Shugui, deputy general manager of Hainan Duoyuan Betel Nut Industry Development Co., Ltd., who has compiled long-term betel nut industry data, the average purchase price of betel nut fruits in Hainan Province from 2016 to 2018 was about 89 yuan per catty; in 2019, it was as low as 4 yuan per catty; 2020 It rose to a super high level every year, and the average price reached 18 yuan per catty.
In March 2021, Hainan only has betel nuts of low quality to pick, but the price has reached 13 yuan per catty.

Last year, prices were at a historically high level. The main reason for this was that the supply of raw materials was in short supply.
The market is expanding and growing at a rate of 26% each year, but the raw materials were affected by pests and diseases last year, and the high temperature weather in the first half of the year and the rainy season in the second half of the year caused a reduction in production, which was reduced by 20% throughout the year.
As a result, a serious imbalance between supply and demand has been caused.

Ordinary pickers earn two to three hundred yuan a day, and one person can get five to six million yuan in the harvest season each year income.
