Why a new version
Zack Znyder had to give up finishing
Justice League
due to the suicide of his daughter Autumn, to whom this new film is dedicated.
It was Joss Wedon who then took over the project.
The relative commercial failure of the film, released in 2017, convinced Snyder to revise it to his idea.
Warner has invested $ 70 million to allow the director of
Man of Steel
(2013) and
Batman vs Superman
(2016) to complete his vision based on reassembly and scenes shot for the occasion, bringing together the actors of the first version and some new ones.
Four hours that pass faster than two
When you read that the film is four hours long, you tremble a bit.
And yet, Zack Snyder brings such epic breath to his characters that the viewer flies away with them.
Those four hours go by faster than Joss Wedon's two hours.
Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Flash (Ezra Miller), Cyborg (Ray Miller) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa) take on new life.
The additions of psychological scenes make them more endearing, which reinforces the involvement of a viewer better able to identify their motivations and interactions.
How beautiful !
Zack Snyder has a sense of spectacle and the action scenes, better integrated into a more cohesive whole, become more spectacular.
Some shots (especially those featuring Batman or Wonder Woman) seem to come straight out of the comics.
We are speechless.
Zack Snyder allows time to savor these moments of magic in frenetic combat sequences against the creatures scammed by the big bad Steppenwolf.
For everyone
It is certain that lovers of the DC Universe will have a head start on the neophytes.
But this
Justice League
opus
is rich enough in explanations to constitute a beautiful introduction to this teeming universe.
Everyone can therefore find themselves in the characters and understand how they will manage to work as a team.
Some fan favorites missing from the first cut make appearances that surprise everyone.
They are ingrained enough in popular culture to be easily identifiable.
Not quite other
Obviously, we find the frame of the 2017 film and its scenario sending the heroes in search of powerful magic cubes.
Of course, Zack Snyder's staging can be annoying with its bombastic side and its permanent use of music with melodramatic accents.
But Snyder's style, elegant and flamboyant, has the merit of being recognizable among all.
We feel his passion for his subject as the depths of melancholy that inhabits him.
This is what makes this astonishing montage both personal and general public.
Pharaonic and highly recommendable.
