On the afternoon of March 11, the Fourth Session of the 13th National People's Congress passed the "Decision of the National People's Congress on Improving the Election System of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" with a high vote.

In accordance with the decision, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress will initiate the relevant amendment procedures in conjunction with relevant parties to amend Annex I and Annex II of the Hong Kong Basic Law.

The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Carrie Lam said in an exclusive interview with a headquartered reporter that Hong Kong must fully implement the principle of "patriots ruling Hong Kong" to ensure the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong and actively integrate into the overall development of the country.

Improve the election system of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and make arrangements for election work

  Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor stated that the National People’s Congress has made a decision to improve Hong Kong’s electoral system and authorized the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress to amend Annex I of the Hong Kong Basic Law "Methods for the Formation of the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" and Annex II "Methods for the Formation and Voting of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region."
