[Commentary] This drama is the first anti-epidemic original drama launched by the National Theatre. It is based on the Wuhan War Epidemic and created three groups of different characters from the perspectives of doctors, nurses, patients, reporters, and volunteers, reproducing retrograde. The moving story of the author.

The sincere and simple performances of the actors infected the audience.

I just work in the community, because I have also experienced 2020 (epidemic), standing guard overnight to investigate.

As a worker who has participated in the fight against the epidemic, this drama is also a tribute to the heroes of the fight against the epidemic, and it is also a baptism and learning.

  [Concurrent] Audience Qin Yiran

After watching this drama, I will cherish life more and remember these heroes who fight the epidemic.

[Concurrent] Liu Jinni, screenwriter of "People First"

We are based on medical staff as the main line, because they are the group that has made the greatest contribution in the entire (fighting) of the epidemic.

Three images are very typical. One is based on Dean Zhang Dingyu. Our play is called Li Hongyu.

There is also a doctor named Tan Min. She is an ordinary medical doctor, but she sticks to the responsibility of a doctor.

There is a representative of a nurse. This nurse is called Xiao Huang Ya. She is actually doing service on the front line. She has worked very hard, made a lot of efforts, and even sacrificed her life.

[Explanation] In order to create a more authentic and credible character image, since the outbreak of the epidemic, Liu Jinni has begun to collect news materials, obtain more information through exchanges with a number of medical aid workers in Hubei, and use it in the script.

We interviewed many doctors and nurses on the front line of the epidemic in Wuhan, and provided us with a lot of material, which was actually used in our dramas.

For example, we have a nurse named Little Yellow Duck. She teaches the volunteers who come to help how to wear protective clothing, and then tells them that you must be prepared, must be for your family, and must protect yourself.

These were all the nurses in Wuhan at that time, who had said in person.

[Explanation] The whole performance uses a pure white spiral staircase with a turntable to divide the stage into different performance areas, break the boundaries of time and space, and allow the characters to have a spiritual dialogue.

The cello, violin, piano and other musical instruments form a variety of auditory colors.

Liu Jinni said that she hopes that through this drama, she hopes to channel traumatic emotions, accumulate warmth and power, so that people can come out of the "post-epidemic" era and welcome a new life.

The production of such a drama is actually not to arouse trauma, but to heal it.

Through such a story of everyone working together to fight the virus, we recorded it in the form of a stage, and at the same time paid tribute to the heroes who made a lot of contributions in this epidemic.

At the same time, we also accumulate a part of our strength. We will encounter anything in the future, even if any disaster is that we have fought like this before, so we will fight back fearlessly.

[Explanation] The 6th China Original Drama Invitational Exhibition is co-sponsored by the National Theatre of China and the People's Government of Xicheng District, Beijing. A total of 22 outstanding original drama works selected from across the country will participate in the exhibition, including multiple anti-epidemic themes and " A play dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
