Recently, the Wuzhou Maritime Department of Guangxi received reports from the public that suspected Chinese white dolphins were found swimming in the waters of the Xijiang River opposite the Yuanjiang Bridge and near the south bank.

On March 13, the expert team further confirmed that the species was indeed the Chinese white dolphin known as the "sea giant panda". This was the first time that the Chinese white dolphin was discovered to have entered the Xijiang River Basin over 400 kilometers away.

According to the fishery department, there are very few dolphins in the waters of the West River in Wuzhou. Abundant resources have caused dolphins to enter the Xijiang River for food.
