Placed in police custody on the night of Wednesday to Thursday for "possession of a weapon", the UDI deputy of Seine-Saint-Denis Jean-Christophe Lagarde was released this Thursday evening, indicates the Bobigny prosecutor's office.

The investigation, entrusted to the departmental judicial police service of Seine-Saint-Denis, continues in preliminary, specifies the latter.

Jean-Christophe Lagarde was arrested at his home, in Drancy, on the night of Wednesday to Thursday.

His relatives called the firefighters around 1 a.m., fearing that the deputy for Seine-Saint-Denis, who has several weapons, would expect his life.

The UDI boss left the Assembly around 11 p.m. and, according to a police source, had called his wife - who is the mayor of the town - and a friend on the road to tell them about his distress.

Taking advantage of his absence, the two women then took care to place one of his weapons, a Glock pistol, safely in the trunk of a car.

Alerted by firefighters, a police crew attended the scene.

On the way, officials reportedly heard a detonation near the lodge.

But when they arrived at his home, located in a quiet neighborhood in the center of Drancy, the elected official was safe and sound.

He denied having attempted suicide.

The police then demanded to enter the lodge, where the couple's children were, to make sure everyone was in good health.

Aude Lavail-Lagarde tells them that her husband, who has been practicing sport shooting for four years, has other weapons.

In a safe, the police did find category B rifles and a lot of ammunition.

Investigators wonder if certain seized weapons were indeed recorded in the Agrippa file.

"Minor family dispute"

Jean-Christophe Lagarde was taken into custody at 5 a.m.

As a deputy, he enjoys parliamentary immunity.

“No parliamentarian may be the object, in criminal or correctional matters, of an arrest or of any other deprivation or restriction of liberty (such as police custody) without the authorization of the office of the assembly whose he is part, ”explains the press service of the National Assembly.

But "this authorization from the Bureau is not, however, required in the event of flagrance".

“What is emerging is a minor family dispute,” his lawyer, Me Yvon Goutal, told AFP.

According to him, there was “absolutely no violence of any kind.

Simply the police services were perhaps frightened by finding in the residence of the weapons which are regularly held within the framework of the practice of the sporting shooting ", he added, specifying to have been aware" of no rumor. violence or illicit weapons ”.

On the judicial level, the leader of the centrist party is the target of a preliminary investigation by the National Financial Prosecutor's Office (PNF).

A complaint, in particular for embezzlement of public funds, had been filed in October 2017 by an opposition municipal councilor, Hacène Chibane, in Drancy who questioned the activity of parliamentary assistant to the wife of Jean-Christophe Lagarde , Aude Lavail-Lagarde, between 2002 and 2014. The latter succeeded him as the town hall of Drancy when he was re-elected in the legislative elections of June 2017. The couple's home and the town hall were searched in February 2019 as part of the this survey.
