The former candidate of "Top Chef" Mory Sacko presents on France 3, since the end of February 2021, the gastronomic program "Open kitchen".

Guest of "Culture Médias" alongside host Raphäl Yem, the chef pays tribute to France Télévisions for having chosen someone with his profile, still rare on French television.

INTERVIEW

It embodies the objective of diversity put forward by France Télévisions.

But not only.

Chef Mory Sacko presents in

Culture Médias

his gastronomy program

Open Kitchen

, which he hosts on France 3 since February 27, 2021. For the former

Top Chef

candidate

, invited alongside the host of the Culturebox Raphäl channel Yem, the fact that he was chosen by France Television is, as a black person, not trivial.

Even if he recalls, for all intents and purposes, that his skin color is not the only reason that motivated his recruitment.

"When we think of terroirs, we don't necessarily think of a young black man, so it's courageous on the part of France Télévisions to have made this choice", observes Mory Sacko, before specifying the intention of the television group public.

"My color is not the only judge of values. The idea is not fair to say that we are going to take a black man and put him at the head of a program. The idea is to say to himself that we are going to take a chef who has things to say and who has a cuisine to show which is different from what we imagine. "

"France Télévisons public wants to represent its public in all its diversity"

"It's courageous on their part to tell themselves that it's a chef like me who will represent the image of cooking a little and who will visit the region," adds the former

candidate

An analysis joined and completed by Raphäl Yem, host on the ephemeral Culturebox channel and on France 3 Paris-Île-de-France.

"Mory Sacko says it is courageous. I find that it is also and above all legitimate", explains the host who describes himself as "of Asian appearance", "fat" and having "a silhouette that stands out in the PAF ".

"Today, France Télévisons wants to represent its audience in all its diversity".

And that's what France 3 does with the

Open Kitchen program

, presented by Mory Sacko every Saturday at 8:15 p.m.
