Two days after the discovery of two bodies in a house in Weilerbach near Kaiserslautern, the suspect turned himself in, according to the police.

The man reported to a department in Kaiserslautern shortly before 2 p.m. on Thursday, said a spokesman for the West Palatinate police headquarters.

The 38-year-old is suspected of having killed his mother and her significant other on Tuesday.

The man was arrested, the police said.

She had been looking for him with a large number of people in the Rhineland-Palatinate region.

According to the police, the man was not armed when he appeared at the station.

He should be questioned and brought before an investigating judge.

The police were apparently on his trail recently.

Accordingly, a witness announced on Wednesday evening that he had seen the suspect on a tractor.

According to the police, he left them and fled on foot.

On Tuesday morning, the man's 60-year-old mother and a 65-year-old were found dead in a homestead.

The two were not married, but were a couple, it was said.

According to the preliminary results of the autopsy, the police have determined that they were killed by violence, but not by gunshot wounds.

The police wrote out the woman's son to be wanted and combed the area with numerous civilian and uniformed personnel.

Sniffer dogs and a helicopter were also used.

According to the investigations, the 38-year-old should also be responsible for arson in the Kaiserslautern district.

A carport, a garage and an adjoining barn burned down there on Sunday evening.

People weren't hurt.

"According to previous knowledge, all acts are acts of relationship," it said.

A police spokeswoman did not want to give details.

The search was carried out in the community of Weilerbach in the Kaiserslautern district.

The region with around 15,000 inhabitants is characterized by the US military base Ramstein with thousands of soldiers.
