From this Thursday, Air France will offer a "health pass" to its customers to carry out an experiment on some of its flights, in particular those to Guadeloupe or Martinique.

A device intended for people vaccinated against Covid-19 or who may have a recent negative test.

The testing phase should last a month.

DECRYPTION

It is not a health passport for travel, but it will certainly be part of the solutions put in place to revive air traffic after the Covid-19 crisis, which has been in free fall for a year.

From this Thursday, the company Air France is launching an experiment which offers its passengers the use of an application which acts as a "digital certificate".

A device which makes it possible in particular to guarantee that the results of the PCR test presented are entirely reliable.

A QR code with the results of his PCR test

This application called "AOK Pass" makes it possible to record, in complete security, the results of its PCR test, carried out in a partner laboratory.

Two large networks were therefore chosen by the airline for this experiment: Biogroup and Cerballiance.

If the test is negative, a QR code is then sent to the patient on his phone.

It is also a way of helping to make boarding more fluid for each passenger, as explained by Emmanuelle Ferracci, in charge of the project at Air France.

"There will be a line dedicated to this customer who will have priority in the boarding queue. He will therefore have to present his QR code to the agent and it will tell him exactly if the test carried out meets the requirements of the destination to which he is going. surrenders, ”she explains.

"The objective is to prepare for the future, since in the long term we will have to come up with solutions to be able to assume a resumption of traffic. And this 'sanitary pass' will participate in it".

Integrate proof of vaccination in the long term

The test phase will last one month, on a voluntary basis, and only on flights departing from Roissy-Charles de Gaulle to Pointe-à-Pitre and Fort-de-France.

Regarding the personal data of its customers, Air France specifies that it does not store any, only the laboratory can have access to it.

Other companies have started doing it, such as Etihad Airways, which has already tested it, and Corsair, which should also do so in a few days.

In the coming months, this device could also include proof of vaccination.

But for now, the debates around the "vaccine passport", desired by many players in the aviation sector, are far from settled.
