"Back then, there was also an old Professor Zhu who saved my wife's life. He is a good man..." "Zhu Xianli? He is my father." On March 6, Zhu Liangru, a professor of gastroenterology at Wuhan Union Medical College Hospital, was comforting in the ward. After the operation, Grandma Liu and her family member Lao Ding said with emotion that she unexpectedly led the father and daughter doctors to the "relay of life" that spanned 32 years.

On the evening of March 8, Lao Ding came to a simple home in the dormitory building of Wuhan Union Medical College Hospital and shook hands affectionately with the 88-year-old Professor Zhu Xianli.

"I still remember you filled 6 empty glucose sling bottles with hot water, wrapped in towels and put them in my wife's quilt to warm her up..." Lao Ding still remembers the details of that year.

From this hot chat after 32 years of absence, it can be heard that this legendary story is not accidental due to the inheritance of family traditions in this three-generation medical family.

One sentence "leads" out the father-daughter professor who relayed his life-saving

During the Spring Festival this year, 68-year-old Grandma Liu suddenly felt unwell and was diagnosed with colon polyps in Xiehe Hospital.

On the evening of March 6, Grandma Liu suffered postoperative gastrointestinal bleeding.

Professor Zhu Liangru, who was on duty at the weekend, quickly put down the lunch box in his hand and decided to perform an operation to stop her bleeding immediately.

It can be seen that Grandma Liu is very scared.

Zhu Liangru explained the operation process carefully in vernacular, telling Grandma Liu: "Just relax and stop the bleeding." This is not a general anesthesia operation, and the old man is awake during the operation.

While performing the operation, Zhu Liangru comforted Grandma Liu from time to time: "It went well, and it will be well soon."

Lao Ding saw all this in his eyes.

After the operation, Zhu Liangru came to the ward to tell Grandma Liu, the atmosphere at the time reminded Lao Ding of the scene 32 years ago.

He said: "32 years ago, my wife was also rescued in Union Hospital. The surgeon at the time was also named Zhu, and he was also a good doctor..." Hearing Lao Ding's father's name, Zhu Liangruren Can't help laughing.

She said: "Professor Zhu Xianli is my father." Only then did Lao Ding remember that the girl who was fond of learning that she had met at that time has now "daughter inherited her father's career" and has grown into a medical professor.

6 "thermostat bottles" to warm patients and their families for 32 years

32 years ago, Grandma Liu's pituitary gland tumor had developed to almost blindness in both eyes and unable to walk on both legs.

At that time, only a few city hospitals across the country purchased MRI machines.

Lao Ding sent his wife to a hospital in Guangzhou for an MRI, and the examination indicated that he needed immediate surgery.

Where is the operation performed?

A past event made Lao Ding choose to return to Wuhan.

In 1981, Lao Ding's daughter, who was only 21 days old, choked with milk.

When he rushed to Wuhan Xiehe Hospital, Lao Ding realized that he didn't carry a penny with him.

The doctor didn't say anything to rescue him immediately, and the child came back to life.

In May 1989, Lao Ding returned to Wuhan with his wife.

It was Zhu Xianli, professor of neurosurgery at Union Hospital, who was in charge of Lao Ding's wife.

In the early 1980s, Zhu Xianli, who returned from his studies in Switzerland, brought internationally advanced micro-neurosurgery technology to Wuhan and became an important pioneer in China's micro-neurosurgery, and his technology has matured day by day.

Under Zhu Xianli's meticulous surgery that year, Grandma Liu has recovered well and lives as usual.

32 years later, when I saw Professor Zhu Xianli again, Lao Ding recalled excitedly: "That day, my wife was pushed into the operating room early in the morning. The operation lasted 8 and a half hours. Professor Zhu performed the surgery throughout the whole process, without eating or drinking. , No rest. After sending my wife out of the operating room safely, Professor Zhu hurried to treat other patients. What I didn’t expect was that at 1:30 in the morning, Professor Zhu, who had been tired for a day, rushed to my wife’s bed. Observe and ask about the postoperative condition."

What made Old Ding remember the most was that at that time, his wife had a cold body after coming out of the operating room.

Professor Zhu Xianli found 6 empty glucose sling bottles, filled them with hot water, wrapped them in towels one by one, and put them around his wife. He also told Lao Ding not to get too close to avoid being burned.

"Until now when I think about it, my heart is warm." Lao Ding said emotionally.

Three generations of medical practitioners have pioneered and cultivated in the field of Chinese and Western medicine

Today, Professor Zhu Xianli, who is in his old age, has bright ears and clear thinking.

He told the Changjiang Daily reporter that in 1928, his father Zhu Shimo went to Tianjin to study under Mr. Shi Jinmo, who was known as one of the "Four Famous Doctors in the North".

Subsequently, his father practiced medicine in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Wuhan, and entered the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Wuhan Union Hospital in 1955.

He advocated the integration of Chinese and Western medicine, and was the first to offer courses in Chinese medicine in non-Chinese medicine colleges and universities across the country.

Among Zhu Shimo's three children, Zhu Xianli and his sister studied medicine and stayed in Wuhan Union Hospital after graduation.

Zhu Xianli’s younger sister, Zhu Hezhen, is a well-known professor of obstetrics and gynecology in Wuhan Union Hospital.

Zhu Xianli's two daughters also chose to study medicine.

After further studies, Zhu Xianli's second daughter, Zhu Liangru, returned to Wuhan Union Hospital. Not only did she become colleagues with Zhu Xianli, she also grew into a young and middle-aged backbone expert and became a "medical couple" with her husband.

From the perspective of her daughter, the active choice of medical practice at the time was not unrelated to her father's precepts and deeds.

They remembered that their father treated the patients gently and carefully, and his work was rigorous to harsh, and he would go to the ward to "check in" at around 8 o'clock every evening.

"We still remember the scene when Dad was at home "stuffing up" various small surgical instruments and small inventions for patients."

Zhu Xianli smiled and said: "I didn't force my children to study medicine, but I approve of their choice from the heart. I told them that studying medicine means dedication, and studying medicine means forgetting personal interests, and studying medicine requires a lifetime of preparation. Endure hardship."
