In Germany, the storm “Klaus” is expected to be the first storm of the year in Germany on Thursday.

This is the beginning of a changeable and very windy weather section, reported the German Weather Service (DWD) on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, however, intermediate high "Luitgard" still stands for the proverbial calm before the storm with temperatures of five degrees in East Western Pomerania and up to 13 degrees on the Upper Rhine.

In the southwest and east of the Elbe it is also sunny for longer.

However, the change in weather in the west and north-west is noticeable in the second half of the day with a refreshing south wind, and the first stormy gusts are expected at the North Sea.

These gusts should then be a foretaste of what is to come, because “Klaus” can appear with hurricane-like gusts in the coastal area, as well as in the mountains.

Hurricane-like gusts can also be expected on the Brocken in the Harz Mountains on Thursday afternoon.

A large-scale storm is not to be expected, said a DWD spokesman.

However, walks in the forest should be avoided.

Accompanied by the storm bottom, rain, changeable showers and individual sleet thunderstorms come.

While the north-west in particular has to expect stormy weather on Thursday, a new storm low is expected on Saturday, but it will be most pronounced in the middle and south of Germany.
