The founder of Zoom donates a third of his fortune

Video platforms Zoom CEO Eric Yuan has donated more than a third of his share, according to company disclosures.

He donated about 18 million shares of the conference technology company last week, while the deposits did not identify the recipient of the shares, which were owned by the donor's retained pension fund, of which Yuan is a trustee.

Zoom's shares have tripled over the past 12 months, as the Corona pandemic has prompted more educational departments to contract with the application, and has also led to it being increasingly used by students and professionals to communicate via the Internet, while working from home.

Eric Yuan ranks 130th in the list of the richest people in the world, with his pre-conversion net worth of $ 15.1 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, up $ 9.2 billion since last March.

Yuan was born in China and was rejected for a visa to the United States eight times before he finally moved to Silicon Valley.

He previously worked for the WebEx Communications group specializing in video conferencing and founded Zoom in 2011, partly inspired by the challenges of maintaining a long-term relationship while he was in college.
