Sophie Jones, Former Jehovah's Witness

[00:00:40] I lived with my mother until I moved out when I was 16.

But I've never really got on with my mother.

She was more of a strict witness.

There are also families, so it's all a little more relaxed.

So the rules like not celebrating a birthday, not Christmas, etc. are of course always the same.

But my mother was very, very strict with her interpretation of the truth or the Bible.

Corporal punishment was also very popular with her.

Tobias Falke, former Jehovah's Witness

[00:01:08] I was the only one who didn't celebrate a birthday in our class, no Christmas.

The invitations arrived.

I said “no, I'm not coming because God doesn't want a birthday to be celebrated” and so on.

And then you noticed that the students were looking at me strangely and that was a bit strange.
