Exactly one week ago, the RKI had recorded 3943 new infections and 358 new deaths within one day.
The data reflect the status of the RKI dashboard from 4.40 a.m., subsequent changes or additions are possible.
According to the RKI, the
number of new infections reported within seven days per 100,000 inhabitants (
seven-day incidence
) was
67.5
nationwide on Tuesday morning
- and thus slightly lower than the previous day (68.0).
Four weeks ago, on February 9, the incidence was 72.8.
The number of new infections in Germany fell significantly for weeks in January and February.
However, it has recently stagnated, which could also be due to the spread of more contagious variants.

The RKI has counted 2,509,445 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 in Germany since the beginning of the pandemic.
The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected.
The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at around 2,319,600.
The total number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 72,189.

(previous day 1.06).
This means that 100 infected people theoretically infect 103 more people.
The value represents the occurrence of the infection 8 to 16 days ago.
If it is below 1 for a longer period of time, the infection process subsides;
if it is consistently higher, the number of cases increases.

Chile
has meanwhile donated
40,000 doses of
the Chinese Sinovac vaccine to Ecuador and Paraguay, as reported on Saturday.
This is announced by the governments of the two South American countries.
The donation underscores the strong differences between Latin American countries in fighting the pandemic.
Richer Chile has already vaccinated a quarter of its population with at least one dose.
In Ecuador and Paraguay, on the other hand, vaccinations are progressing very slowly.
