In view of the high number of infections, all residents of Vogtland over the age of 18 should soon be able to be vaccinated against the coronavirus.

This was announced by Saxony's Minister of Health Petra Köpping (SPD) in Dresden after a cabinet meeting.

The seven-day incidence in the district on Tuesday was 251.3, according to the Robert Koch Institute.

But Köpping asked that not everyone rush off at once.

You need a few more days to implement the measure.

Starting next Monday, the first over 65-year-olds in Saxony are also to be immunized with the AstraZeneca vaccine.

According to Köpping, the capacity of all vaccination centers in Saxony is currently 13,000 doses per day.

This number should initially be increased to 20,000.

In addition there would be the vaccinations of the family doctors.
