Every March 8, women's rights, the road traveled, the struggles still to be waged so that half of humanity has the place and recognition it deserves are reminded of.
The world of cinema is not immune to discrimination.
It is even an exemplary environment, where the #MeToo movement for the liberation of women's speech started.
In France there was no anthology of films directed by women.
The book "100 great films by female directors" fills this void, selecting from among hundreds of the most emblematic works, from the beginnings of cinema in 1896 to the present day.

We may wonder ... If we wanted to honor him, it's still quite easy.
You ask anyone in the street to name female directors.
Someone a little older will tell you: yes, I know Agnès Varda, and the younger ones quote Céline Sciamma.

Véronique Le Bris's anthology fills a void and will make it possible to cite many other women filmmakers.
The Arte channel, which co-publishes the book, devotes special programming to some of the films mentioned, on its terrestrial channel and its video on demand platform.
