On Sunday evening, the exclusive and much-discussed interview of Meghan Markle and the British Prince Harry with Oprah Winfrey was broadcast on the American channel CBS.

These are the highlights of the conversation.

Oprah Winfrey, a close friend of the couple, is said to

have been given

carte blanche

: she was allowed to ask any question during the first interview the Duke and Duchess of Sussex gave after they had to hand in their honorary titles earlier this year.

These were the most striking statements.

Meghan said Harry was asked by family how dark their son Archie's skin could be.

Oprah asked Meghan why they didn't want to make Archie a prince.

In the months leading up to Archie's birth, there were conversations not only about how he wouldn't get a title and that there would be no security for him, but about how dark the baby's skin could be and "what that would mean. or what that would look like, "says Meghan.

Harry and Meghan's second child is a girl.

Meghan made it clear at the beginning of the interview that the two would reveal the gender of their second child, but she didn't want to do that until halfway through the interview, when her husband joined.

The girl is expected next summer.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex became parents to their son Archie in May 2019.

They said they intend to keep it with two children.

Meghan suffered from suicidal thoughts during her stay in the UK.

Things were so bad for Meghan that she didn't want to live anymore.

When she wanted to seek help, she was stopped by "the institute".

It would be "not a good look" for the palace.

She explained that as a prince's wife, she couldn't just go to a hospital or clinic on her own.

"I just couldn't. I couldn't order an Uber at the palace, it just doesn't work that way. You hand in everything: my passport, my driver's license, my keys."

Prince Harry feels abandoned by his father Prince Charles.

He also said his late mother Diana would have been angry and upset about the way the British Royal Family had treated his wife Meghan.

"I really feel abandoned because he has been through something similar. He knows what the pain feels like," Harry said of his father.

"I will always love him, but a lot of pain has happened."

Harry also said that his father had stopped answering his calls.

Harry and Meghan were married three days before the "royal wedding".

The televised wedding would have been for the show.

The couple married in advance in a secret ceremony attended only by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
