Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) wants to make public the names of all members of the Bundestag who have appeared to his ministry in connection with the procurement of corona protective masks.

However, this should only be done after consulting the Bundestag administration.

"We want to enable full transparency in an orderly process," said Spahn to the editorial network Germany (RND / Monday).

But because the personal rights of MPs were affected, he asked the Bundestag to develop a procedural proposal with him.

According to the report, State Secretary for Health Thomas Steffen wrote in a letter to Bundestag director Lorenz Müller that there were several inquiries from the center of parliament and from the press on the subject of mask deals.

“In the interests of transparency, the BMG is basically ready to make a list of relevant members available to parliament and also to the public,” Steffen is quoted as saying.

“At the same time, the corresponding information affects the rights of the MPs concerned.” That is why they want to exchange ideas about the further course of the procedure.

The MPs Georg Nüßlein (CSU) and Nikolas Löbel (CDU) are said to have collected six-figure commissions for arranging mask shops.

Both have declared their exit from the Union parliamentary group, but wanted to keep their mandate, although the party and parliamentary group leadership are demanding their withdrawal.

Löbel announced on Monday that he would resign his mandate "with immediate effect" and leave the CDU.
