In a few days, and like every March 8, women's rights will be recalled worldwide.

The annual opportunity to salute the advances, to measure the progress made but also the inequalities that remain or worsen, and the rights still to be conquered so that half of humanity has the place and the recognition that it deserves. .

Publicity

Cinema, like all sections of society, is not immune to discrimination, relegation, and forgetfulness.

In 2012, it was such a short time ago, it was an eternity, we could still regret that no director's film was selected at the Cannes Film Festival.

A controversy ensued… Then there was the #metoo global scandal, which left Hollywood and revelations of rape and abuse committed by producer Harvey Weinstein.

Everywhere a new wave, a new feminist generation opened a way, it is for example the collective 50/50 of the French cinema, the international festivals of cinema which are also committed on the way of equality.

A long road really, when we consider that from the birth of cinema, there were female directors, but that they were totally forgotten, even deliberately obscured.

So films, and good films by female directors, have existed since the birth of the cinematograph.

To talk about it, we welcome

Véronique Le Bris

, the creator of the Alice Guy prize (which rewards the best film directed by a woman), from cine-woman.fr, the first female webmagazine on cinema.

Véronique Le Bris publishes “100 great films by

female

directors”, a Gründ and Arte éditions co-edition, since Arte devotes

a program dedicated to films by

female

directors

, on artevod.com and on the Franco-German channel.

Musical breaks:

Mamma Mia

(based on the film by Phyllida Llyod) and Dom La Nena

L'oiseau sauvage

.
