[Explanation] In the early spring morning, the sound of morning exercises in Wuquanshan Park in Lanzhou City was endless. Ma Yan, an engineer of the Park's Cultural Relics Protection Section, began his one-day "mountain patrol" work.

King Kong Hall, Daxiong Treasure Hall, Wanyuan Pavilion, Thousand Buddha Pavilion... He climbed up the mountain, sometimes looking up from the surrounding pillars, sometimes squatting down to look at the bricks, and taking pictures and recordings of any problems in ancient buildings at any time, keeping funds for feedback, and maintenance maintain.

He told reporters that for more than one "patrolling the mountain" every day, 20,000 steps are the "barrier to entry".

The ancient buildings of Wuquan Mountain are located at the northern foot of Gaolan Mountain in the southern suburbs of Lanzhou City, on a high mountain with an altitude of more than 1,600 meters. This is a paradise for almost every Lanzhou child’s childhood. A treasure house of ancient buildings in 24 groups of buildings from the Yuan Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty.

[Concurrent] Ma Yan, Head of Infrastructure Section of Wuquanshan Park, Lanzhou

This is the oldest group of buildings in our Wuquanshan complex. It was in the Tang Dynasty. After Xue Ju became emperor in Lanzhou at that time, he built his palace. Then in the Tang Dynasty, it was changed by Li Shimin in the later period. After a monastery is over, the dynasty will be overthrown, and it will be a short dynasty.

Then (mainly observe) whether there are cracks in the wall, and whether our doors, windows, wooden components, columns, beams, slabs, and ridges are cracked, and then the most important thing is to observe whether the structure of the building has any impact, its overall structure Whether it is stable, whether it brings instability and insecurity to our tourists is in it.

[Explanation] Mottled oil, cracked cracks...Most tourists feel that the building here has been "dilapidated" for decades, but in the eyes of the guardian of ancient buildings, Ma Yan, this kind of exterior is mottled, but the internal structure The stable appearance is its best state at present.

The oil paintings of the entire building complex have basically maintained their current status as they fell off last time, but in the eyes of tourists, it is said that after you finish repairing, it still looks tattered.

So at the level of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, they believe that if this oil painting is currently unable to protect and complete the investigation, we are not allowed to repaint it, because the only way you can deal with it now is to The original mottled layer of skin was peeled off and repainted.

In this case, our original information will be obscured, and then it is equivalent to destroying cultural relics, like the colored paintings on the pillars are irreversible.

[Explanation] Ma Yan said that the requirements for restoration of ancient buildings have been changed from "repair as old as the old" to the principle of minimum intervention to improve the accuracy and efficiency of protection. He hopes that science and technology can help jointly "guard" the bricks of the childhood paradise.
