In this town of Eure-et-Loir, an ephemeral vaccination center was set up in 48 hours to vaccinate as many people as possible on Saturday.

And the inhabitants responded present and rushed to receive their injection.

REPORT

Among the territories most affected by the coronavirus epidemic, the department of Eure-et-Loir launched a "vaccine strike" on Saturday, a last-minute operation decided on Thursday evening to vaccinate as many people as possible older than age 75, often stranded in rural communities.

In particular, an ephemeral vaccination center was set up in 48 hours in Nogent-le-Rotrou.

And inside the latter, we vaccinated all day Saturday thanks to doses given by the government, but also by neighboring departments spared by the virus.

The buzz amplified throughout the day, with a crowd of canes, white heads and smiles.

"We did not expect to see so many people outside, so many people outside ... It's extraordinary", rejoices Martine.

However, like her colleagues at the town hall, she had prepared for this day, calling the citizens one by one, especially those who remained desperately on the waiting list, without finding an appointment for vaccination.

"It's a miracle", confides, amused, Jeanine, who has just been stung.

"We tried, but we were told 'call back in a month', she tells Europe 1." There, I was told 'There is nothing left for the month of March. "

Objective: to vaccinate 800 people in the pop-up center

3,500 doses have now been delivered to the whole department.

In the requisitioned gymnasium in Nogent-le-Rotrou, 10 tents are still crumpled up, for a winding route hastily traced, from the entrance to the injection.

On the program: an appointment given every 2 minutes.

This ephemeral center in Nogent-le-Rotrou was only set up for one day, and to vaccinate 800 people.

A way to catch up with the delay in the epidemic, rejoices Françoise Souliman, the prefect of Eure-et-Loir.

"It's a relief because there are 900 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, that is to say an explosive incidence rate."

And Sunday evening, 85% of people over 75 years of Perche will have received the first dose of the vaccine.
