A country infects healthy volunteers with the Coronavirus to study its characteristics

The British Ministry of Health confirmed to the German News Agency, that Britain has become the first country to infect healthy volunteers with the Corona virus, within the framework of the so-called study of the human challenge of the virus.

She said that the first tests in the study, which include volunteers who have not received the "Covid 19" vaccine yet, began on Saturday.

A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health told (dpa), "The Human Challenge Program will improve and accelerate the development of vaccines and treatments against Covid-19, and the first group of volunteers has now begun to study the characteristics of the virus at the Royal Free Hospital in London."

She added: "These carefully selected adults will be exposed to the virus in a safe and controlled environment, with paramedics and scientists available to debate and care for them around the clock."

For the study, the scientists selected up to 90 healthy young volunteers who were unlikely to develop a severe case of COVID-19, the lung disease caused by the Coronavirus.

They are initially exposed to the lowest dose of the virus necessary for infection.

The aim of the study is to investigate how the immune system interacts with the virus and how virus particles interact with the environment.

According to previous reports issued by the British government, this is the first human challenge trial conducted around the world regarding the emerging corona virus.
