The Canal

Sports Club

has a new face.

According to information from our colleagues from the newspaper

L'Équipe

, it is the sports journalist Astrid Bard who will replace Marie Portolano in the Canal + show, from March 13.

The upcoming departure of Marie Portolano was formalized on Wednesday by the Canal + group, but it had been revealed by

Le Parisien

on February 24.

The journalist leaves for the M6 channel, where she will co-present a new program,

Le grand cactus

, an entertainment program adapted from a successful Belgian format.

A replacement in a difficult context

Astrid Bard is no stranger to Canal + sports-loving viewers.

The journalist was part of the

Canal Football Club team

from August 2011 to September 2013 and had covered for the encrypted channel the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016, in particular.

Presenter of the

Late Rugby Club

since 2020 on the Canal + Sport channel, Astrid Bard will therefore present the

Canal Sports Club

from March 13, 2021.

The journalist takes over from journalist Marie Portolano.

The latter leaves the Canal group in a context deemed deleterious by the unions, which point to "authoritarian abuses" on the part of the management of the channel.

Marie Portolano was one of the signatories of a text supporting comedian Sébastien Thoen, fired for a sketch parodying the CNews show

L'heure des pros.

The signing of this text would have resulted in the dismissal of three freelance journalists from the sports writing of Canal +.
