For the relocation of the monument "Flying" in front of Nagoya Station, work has begun to cut a part to check the degree of deterioration of the material.

"Flying" is a stainless steel monument shaped like a cone with a height of 23 meters. It was installed in front of the east side of Nagoya Station in 1989, but it has been relocated toward the opening of the Linear Chuo Shinkansen. It is planned.

Before the removal work begins in the new year, Nagoya City has begun work to cut out a part of the monument in order to investigate how much the stainless steel pipe with a diameter of about 10 cm has deteriorated and its durability. It was.

On the 3rd, workers used a cutting machine to cut pipes of various lengths near the bottom, which did not affect the structure.

The work will be carried out for about two weeks, after which the strength and materials will be analyzed in detail before the removal work will begin in the new fiscal year.

"Flying" is being considered for relocation to the redevelopment area "Sasashima Live" on the south side of Nagoya Station, and we are aiming to install it in the 4th year of Reiwa.
