The National Federation of Firefighters of France (FNSPF) assured this Wednesday "to be ready to provide (its) support" in order to accelerate the vaccination campaign against Covid-19, while the government aims for a first vaccination for six million French people at the end of March.

The federation proposes, in a press release, "a contribution of know-how and technical and logistical means", thanks to its more than 6,200 rescue centers spread over the whole of the territory.

It also underlines the capacity of its “members of the health service” to carry out the vaccination acts directly as well as to participate in the training of other firefighters.

Vaccination extended to two million people

"Faced with the emergency, the firefighters are ready and are at the disposal of the authorities", assured the FNSPF.

France has exceeded three million people who received a first dose of the vaccine, 1.6 million of them having been vaccinated with two doses, mostly elderly people and caregivers, according to the latest data released Tuesday by the ministry of Health.

The government extended the vaccination against Covid-19 to the maximum on Tuesday, making two and a half million additional people eligible with the widening of the criteria to benefit from the AstraZeneca vaccine.

The executive is counting on the acceleration of the vaccination campaign to consider a possible relaxation of the restrictions currently in place to contain the epidemic, the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron calling on the French to "hold" another "four to six weeks" .
