According to a survey, a large majority of Germans want to be vaccinated against the corona virus as soon as possible.

73 percent of those surveyed intend to have a vaccination as soon as they have the chance, as the survey published on Wednesday by the opinion research institute Forsa for the RTL / ntv "trend barometer" showed.

For comparison: In mid-February, the proportion of those who want a vaccination was 68 percent according to the Forsa survey.

In the current survey, 12 percent stated that they would continue to wait and see - 8 percent would rather do without a corona vaccine entirely.

Meanwhile, Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) has recommended that the intervals between the first and second vaccination should be exhausted in order to enable more people to have a primary vaccination.

With the vaccine from Biontech / Pfizer, a second vaccination should be given after six weeks if possible, with that from AstraZeneca after twelve weeks, he says in the ARD.

"Then we can have more primary vaccinations and, the exciting thing about AstraZeneca, for example, the effectiveness is even higher." In addition, there are now encouraging data on the effectiveness of the AstraZeneca vaccine for people over 65 years of age.

He is hoping for a decision by the Standing Vaccination Commission within days.
