In November, the EBU stated that the competition will be held in Rotterdam in May, regardless of how the corona pandemic develops.

Today, the competition management issued guidelines for the foreign artists, officials and journalists who will participate in the event.

"Our goal is clear"

All foreign guests are advised to quarantine themselves five days before the trip to the Netherlands.

Before the flight, you then need to present a negative covid test that is at most 72 hours old.

When the delegations are in place in Rotterdam, it is the hotel stay that applies, with the exception of scheduled rehearsals and competition.

Everyone in the arena will be tested regularly.

"Our goal is clear: to prevent the spread of the virus during the event.

If someone tests positive, we follow our protocol for insulation ", says the program's producer Sietse Bakker.

Recorded contributions in reserve

The competition will be broadcast in real time, just as usual.

But all countries will also make a pre-recording of the country's contribution which can be used if it is not possible to travel to Rotterdam due to the pandemic or if an artist needs to be quarantined due to illness.

The pre-recorded contributions must be "live on tape", which means that no changes to the song or any other part of the performance may be changed afterwards.

Eurovision song contests two semi-finals will be broadcast on 18 and 20 May and the final on 22 May.
