  • Covid-19 Two cases of sudden deafness related to the coronavirus detected in Spain

It continues the downward trend in Spain that should make us happy but not worry us.

And we have already seen that we trust ourselves in the second wave and we did not lower the level of infections enough, which caused it to be linked to the third wave and had worse consequences in infections, care burden and deaths.

According to the data published by the Ministry of Health this Tuesday, the cumulative incidence (AI) stands at 168.44

.

Melilla continues to have the worst figures (380.40), followed by Ceuta (311.41) and Madrid (273.39).

The rest of the communities are all below the maximum risk threshold, 250, but still with figures that need to be lowered further.

Only four of them are below 100: Murcia (91.71), La Rioja (77.34), Balearic Islands (74.38) and Extremadura (51.23).

It should be noted that the number of deaths has

finally

experienced

a notable decrease compared to previous weeks, when they exceeded 400 and 500 daily

.

This Tuesday Health reports 192 deaths, a similar figure to the 195 on December 16 - when the second wave had subsided, but not enough, and the third began to take off.

In the last seven days, 686 have been registered

(103 in Andalusia, 90 in the Valencian Community and 86 in Madrid, the communities with the most deaths), which brings the total of deaths in Spain since the start of the pandemic to 69,801.

Catalonia eliminates duplicate infections

The number of infections has also been reduced considerably in the last two weeks, however today there are 74,347 fewer in the total figures.

This is explained because Catalonia has eliminated duplicate cases that had been registered when updating the computer system with an identification code different from the one originally assigned.

After the correction, Catalonia has gone from having 582,073 cases (this Monday) to 503,209 today.

Without counting Catalonia, the new cases in the last 24 hours in Spain amount to 4,517, figures that had not been recorded since October, before the second wave accelerated.

There

are 2,662

diagnosed the day before

(with 1,058 in Madrid and 333 in the Basque Country standing out)

, which brings the total number of cases in our country since the start of the pandemic to 3,130,184.

The care load is also relieved at a better speed.

The percentage of beds occupied by patients with coronavirus in Spain continues to decline and stands at 8.94%

(the maximum risk threshold is 15%).

The percentage of intensive care (ICU) beds, on the other hand, remains above the threshold for very high risk of 25%, although it seems that it is also starting to decrease a little faster.

Thus, Health reports 26.99%.

These are still very high figures since, as we recall once again, they reflect only Covid patients, we must add those who occupy ICU beds for other pathologies or interventions, so the degree of real saturation is always greater than that indicated by these figures.

ICU saturation

In this sense, the communities with the highest ICU saturation are

Ceuta (41.18%) and Madrid (40.69%), both slightly above 40%

.

They are already below 40% Catalonia (38.04%), Castilla y León (35.62%), Asturias (33.03%), Aragon (32.20%), La Rioja (28.74%) , Castilla-La Mancha (25.58%) and the Basque Country (25.45%).

The rest of the Autonomous Communities are below 25%.

The number of hospitalizations and ICUs in our hospitals also

falls at the rate of the lower number of infections and incidence

.

To date there are 11,246 patients admitted for Covid (to get an idea, on December 17, when the third wave began to take off, 11,336 were admitted).

Of those 11,246, 2,469 correspond to Madrid, 2,299 to Catalonia, 1,780 to Andalusia and 908 to the Valencian Community.

Regarding admissions and ICU in the last 24 hours, there has also been a reduction in the total figures due to the same update that Catalonia has made.

In hospitalizations, Catalonia has reduced its number by 3,543 admissions and in ICU, 220 less

, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic in Spain to 314,939 hospitalizations and 27,575 ICU cases (in the last 24 hours and without counting Catalonia has there have been 1,170 hospital admissions and 122 cases referred to ICU).

Russia, leader of Europe

At the European level, in the contagion ranking,

Russia continues to lead (4,257,650), followed by the United Kingdom (4,182,009), France in third place (3,760,671) and Spain in fourth place (3,130,184)

.

Fifth Italy (2,938,371) and in sixth place Turkey with 2,701,588.

They are followed by Germany (2,451,011) and below two million Poland (1,711,772) and Ukraine (1,352,134).

By number of deaths, the United Kingdom continues to occupy the first place, being still the only country in Europe that exceeds 100,000 deaths with some difference over the rest (122,953).

It is followed by Italy (97,945), France (86,829), Russia (86,455), Germany (70,463) and Spain (69,801).

In terms of AI, the Czech Republic has the highest incidence in Europe and continues to skyrocket and climb: 1,416.

They are followed by Sweden, which continues to grow (478);

France (434.4

);

Italy, a country that has also grown in the last week (346.5);

The Netherlands, another that is also rising slowly (343.7) and Poland, which is also growing slightly (316.7).
