Regarding the facility for persons with intellectual disabilities in Kanagawa Prefecture, where 19 people were killed, the prefecture decided to continue to entrust the operation to the corporation of the current designated manager.

After the incident, it was discovered that the user was being abused, but the prefecture has confirmed its intention to reform the organization.

Tsukui Yamayurien, a prefectural facility for people with intellectual disabilities in Sagamihara City, moved to a temporary facility after the murder of 19 people in 2016, and moved to the original location and two locations in Yokohama City. Construction of a new facility is underway in Yokohama.

After the incident, several acts that were strongly suspected of being abused by users, such as locking private rooms 24 hours a day, were found in this garden, and the prefecture contracted with the social welfare corporation "Kanagawa Kyodokai", which operates as a designated manager. After shortening the period to the end of July 2021, we have been considering measures to be taken after August 2021 when the use of new facilities begins.

As a result, the president of the corporation, the managing director, and the director of the garden indicated their intention to retire, so the prefecture decided to entrust the operation after August, saying that it had indicated its intention to reform the organization. Reported at the committee of the prefectural assembly of Japan.

The designated management period is one and a half years, after which it will be open to the public again.

At the committee, there was an opinion that "I want you to create an environment where users can live with peace of mind," and the person in charge of the prefecture said, "I would like to support the realization of support from the user's perspective."
