Are there any cat kidnappings in the north of Toulouse?

This question worries many inhabitants who have seen their pets mysteriously disappear in recent months without ever seeing them reappear.

Several cases have thus been reported since last summer on the side of Castelginest, but also Fonbeauzard, Launaguet or even Pechbonnieu or Saint-Alban.

“We had fifteen reports and in the meantime four have been found.

The first case was reported to the municipal police of Castelginest last August and an investigation was opened last November, ”said a spokesperson for the Haute-Garonne gendarmerie.

Call for witnesses

Its services launched on Monday a call for witnesses on social networks asking owners who have been confronted with the disappearance of their feline in this area to report.

"The objective is to identify the volume of disappearances and to know if we are faced with a normal phenomenon or not", continues the spokesperson for the gendarmerie.

Because it is not uncommon for cats to disappear, sometimes victims of stray animals, impacts with cars, poisonings or even adoptions by other inhabitants of the area.

But it also happens that it is real organized traffic, sometimes for resale on the Internet, sometimes for furs.

A phenomenon which does not affect only the north of Toulouse.

A resident of Rieumes, south of Toulouse, launched a petition last December to request the opening of an investigation after the occurrence of similar facts in the area and had counted more than 19,000 signatures.
