Is a getaway on the Isle of Beauty on the program?

Well, we'll have to get tested for the coronavirus.

The obligation, to go to Corsica, to have done a PCR test in the seventy-two hours before departure is again extended, with no end date.

And this, because of "the threat of new variants", announced Monday the prefecture.

"The worsening health situation on the continent (...) and the threat that the variants pose to the health system" explain "the extension of the testing system implemented since December 19," said the prefecture.

Antigenic tests are "no longer accepted"

The device is extended "for a period that is no longer defined", with a "regular reassessment" of the device depending on the evolution of the epidemic, she says.

Passengers aged 11 or over traveling to Corsica must "present on boarding" to transport companies a declaration on their honor stipulating that they have carried out an RT-PCR test "less than seventy-two hours" before boarding, not have symptoms of Covid-19 and not be positive for Covid-19.

They will also have to present "proof" of this test, which must be negative and of the RT-PCR type, antigenic tests being "no longer accepted", recalls the prefecture.

"The reason is quite simple, with RT-PCR tests, we are able when a test is positive to sequence it to search for variants", explained Philippe Mortel, from the Regional Health Agency (ARS) of Corsica. , during the previous extension in early February.

Without a sworn statement and proof of the test, "transport companies will refuse boarding to travelers," warns the prefecture.

During the first wave of Covid-19 in the spring, Corsica was particularly affected.

In total, 172 people have died on this island of 340,000 inhabitants since the start of the epidemic, including 82 since September, according to the latest report from the ARS published on Monday.
