As a result of a questionnaire survey conducted by groups such as Osaka University regarding awareness of the new coronavirus vaccine, it was found that the number of people aged 65 and over who want to be vaccinated tends to increase as the number of people around them increases. The group says it is important to disclose the progress of vaccination in order to increase the vaccination rate.

This survey was conducted by a group of Professor Fumio Ohtake of Osaka University, who specializes in behavioral economics.

Last month, the group conducted an Internet-based survey of 12,000 people regarding their awareness of vaccines, and analyzed data from more than 2,200 people aged 65 and over who are eligible for priority vaccination.

As a result, at the time of the survey, 76.5% of the respondents said they would like to be vaccinated.

In addition, since the number of infected people in Japan is declining, we investigated what factors affect vaccination on the assumption that the number of infected people has decreased, and found that 1 in 10 people of the same age was vaccinated. In this situation, 71.1% wanted to be vaccinated, but in the situation where 5 out of 10 people of the same age were vaccinated, the number of people who wanted to be vaccinated increased to 78.6%.

Professor Otake said, "When I received the information that many people were vaccinated, I realized that I was motivated to get vaccinated. It is important to actively publicize how many people were actually vaccinated. It may be a boost. "
