We can no longer pretend not to know.

Confronted with courses mainly distilled at a distance, the lack of social life and growing precariousness, French students are doing badly.

Numerous testimonies, supported by several investigations, have come to recall this in recent weeks.

Thursday, a new scientific study carried out in Rennes came to confirm the fears.

According to this survey, 60% of the students questioned are in a state of "psychological distress".

Worse, one in five students admit to suffering from depressive disorders and nearly 40% mention anxiety disorders.

The national observatory of student life had unveiled the results of an investigation carried out following the first confinement.

One-third of the students showed signs of psychological distress.

But since ?

What impact did the second lockdown have?

How do the latter experience the absence of social life, especially those who are far from home?

The "Cover" study conducted in Rennes aimed to answer these questions.

To do this, around 4,000 students from the École des Hautes Etudes en Santé Publique, Rennes School of Business and Sciences Po were invited to answer an online questionnaire.

Nearly 800 of them responded, a significant mobilization for this type of investigation.

Fifty-one percent of those polled declared "to feel bad or rather bad"

According to the group of researchers from Ehesp, the Institut Pasteur and Public Health France, more than one in two students "declared to suffer from a feeling of loneliness and nearly a quarter benefited from a low social support ”.

The survey also reveals that his women are "more at risk of psychological distress and anxiety disorders" than men.

The authors of this research plead for the implementation of preventive actions, particularly on the psychological level, but also for an “at least partial” resumption of face-to-face courses.

A few days ago, it was the Rennes 2 Union Pirate university union which unveiled the worrying results of its online questionnaire.

Fifty-one percent of respondents said they “feel bad or rather bad”.

For 56% of them, the situation has even deteriorated since November and the distribution of the same questionnaire.

According to the student union, 21% of respondents have had suicidal thoughts in recent months.
