Rose Leslie wasted no time getting back to work.

The actress, who gave birth earlier this month to a baby boy (born from her relationship with Kit Harington), has already signed up for a first post-maternity project.

According to Deadline, the interpreter of Ygritte in

Game of Thrones

will return in a series for HBO with

The Time Traveler's Wife

, the new project of Steven Moffat (

Dracula

,

Sherlock

).

Rose Leslie will play Clare, a woman who, from an early age, receives regular visits from a mysterious man who tells her stories from the future.

As an adult, Clare understands that this man, who is a different age each time he visits her, is in fact a time traveler, and that he is… her future husband.

The husband in question, Henry, will be played by Theo James (

Divergent

).

Priority project

Also according to the media,

The Time Traveler's Wife

was one of HBO's priorities since the American cable channel obtained the rights to Audrey Niffenegger's novel.

“I read

Audrey Niffenegger

's The Time Traveler's Wife

many years ago and fell in love with it.

In fact, I wrote an episode of Doctor Who called

The Girl In The Fireplace

in direct response to this story.

When, in her next novel, Audrey had a character watch this episode, I realized she had it all figured out.

Today, years later, the ability to adapt the novel itself is a dream come true.

The new world of television is now ready for this kind of depth and complexity, ”Steven Moffat said when buying the rights in 2018.

A film with Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana in the main roles, had already been successful when it was released in 2009, but had received a mixed reception from critics.
