Last month's population movement in Tokyo was "excessive out-migrants," with out-migrants surpassing in-migrants for seven consecutive months, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications says that the spread of the new coronavirus infection is still affecting it.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the population movement in Tokyo last month was 23,993 in-migrants, while 25,483 in-migrants, which is 1490 more than in-migrants.

Due to the influence of the new coronavirus, "excessive out-migrants" have continued in Tokyo since July last year, and this is the seventh consecutive month.

The largest number of people to move out was Kanagawa prefecture with 6195 people, followed by Saitama prefecture with 5164 people and Chiba prefecture with 3873 people.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, "The tendency to move from Tokyo to neighboring prefectures has not changed due to the influence of the new coronavirus. We will continue to pay close attention to the time when the movement of people will increase due to employment and going on to higher education."
