Wuquan Mountain is located at the northern foot of Gaolan Mountain on the south side of Lanzhou City. It has a history of more than two thousand years and is more than 1,600 meters above sea level. It is named for the five-eyed spring water of Ganlu, Yueyue, Mozi, Hui and Meng.

The Wuquanshan building complex was built in the Yuan Dynasty, and was added and rebuilt many times during the Ming and Qing dynasties and the Republic of China. There are currently 24 building complexes.

In 2013, the complex was listed as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

In order to protect the cultural relics, Ma Yan, an engineer from the Wuquan Mountain Cultural Relics Protection Section, has routinely inspected the complexes every week for more than ten years. Each inspection requires a 2-hour walk. In the event of complicated weather conditions, inspections must be carried out immediately.

Ma Yan told reporters that seriousness is the soul of work. At present, the building complex mainly has settlements, cracks and other problems. There are reasons behind each small crack. You can't let any of the cracks, and repair under the principle of "minimal intervention". Maintain the original historical and cultural value of ancient buildings.
