An analysis of the corona infection numbers after the start of the vaccination campaign in the USA is encouraging.

Care facilities have been considered real corona hotspots since the outbreak of the pandemic.

There were outbreaks of the virus in a total of 31,000 long-term care facilities, killing 163,000 people, including residents and employees.

This means that corona deaths in the facilities account for more than a third of all pandemic deaths in the United States.

Now the picture of the corona nursing home in the USA is changing, as an analysis by the American newspaper "New York Times" reveals.

Accordingly, the number of new infections in nursing homes has decreased by more than 80 percent since the vaccination was started - almost twice as much as in the general population.

The newspaper used data up to the beginning of February for the analysis.

They also show a positive trend with regard to deaths, because they have also decreased significantly since the end of the year - by more than 65 percent.

Experts welcomed this development and see it as a clear sign of the effectiveness of the vaccinations.

Because older people and especially residents of nursing homes were given preference in the USA when the vaccine was awarded.

So far, around 4.5 million home residents and caregivers in the United States have received at least the first dose of vaccine, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

2.1 million of them are already fully vaccinated.

Another factor could have been the overall lower number of cases.
