On the 24th, multiple chickens were found dead at a poultry farm in Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture, and avian influenza virus was detected as a result of genetic testing.

This is the 51st case of bird flu confirmed in poultry farms nationwide since November last year, and the 12th case in Miyazaki prefecture.

According to Miyazaki Prefecture, 86 chickens were found dead at a poultry farm in Miyakonojo City on the morning of the 24th, and genetic testing revealed "H5 type" avian influenza virus.



The prefecture has been disposing of about 39,000 chickens at this poultry farm since 7:00 am on the 25th.



According to the prefecture, there are 117 poultry farms within a 10km radius that are subject to "movement restrictions" and "transportation restrictions", and about 4.1 million chickens are bred.



Miyazaki Prefecture is calling for "the migratory bird season will continue until around April, so we want you to thoroughly inspect and disinfect the poultry house."



Since November last year, this is the 51st case of bird flu confirmed at poultry farms nationwide, and the 12th case in Miyazaki prefecture.
