The Nantes native Claire Vimont is the creator of the games for teens Sexploration -

Sexploration

  • Launched a year ago, the line of Sexploration board games has already sold around 8,000 copies.

  • The most requested, the "Consent role play", sheds light on this theme which is sometimes "very difficult to tackle".

While the government recently looked into the debate on the age of consent, are those first concerned also clear on the issue?

This is the goal of a board game for girls and boys aged 12 and over, which has had little success since its launch a year ago.

The rules of this “Role-playing game of consent” are simple: a player draws a card on which is written a question, relating to sexuality, seduction or everyday life (“Shall we kiss?” “Are you coming for a drink? coffee with me? etc. ”Opposite, another player must answer him, directly or not.

Using the vocabulary used, but especially intonation or body language, adolescents must determine if there is "consent" and open the discussion.

"They often come to the conclusion that if it may be, it is in fact often not," observes Claire Vimont, 24, the designer.

This game forces them to really listen to each other, to study all the options and therefore to realize that they have a choice, the right to say no.

Consent is in sexuality but also in everyday life.

However, this is a very difficult topic to tackle.

Now that something is released, that we are starting to talk about it, we need tools to be able to do it.

Soon available in Europe

It is with this state of mind that this young graphic designer from Nantes had the idea to release a range of five board games, called Sexploration (between € 12.90 and € 24.90 per box).

Used by teachers, nurses, sex therapists, animators, in family schedules but also in families, they have sold nearly 8,000 copies.

The contraceptive color chart,

for example, offers two large posters of men and women on which the different types of contraception must be placed, in the right place.

A "true or false" on STIs allows you to learn while having a little fun.

It's Not Taboo

, teens have to guess words related to sexuality, being careful not to use a list of prohibited terms.

"Young people are not always very comfortable, but as soon as you start the stopwatch, the mechanics of the game immediately remove the embarrassment," says Claire Vimont.

I wanted to play uninhibited games where we use real words like "vulva", "penis", "anus" ... I am convinced that if some teens have a vulgar view of sexuality, it is also because vulgar or porn words sometimes used.

"

Currently being translated into English, German and Spanish, the games intended to be “inclusive” and “positive” will soon be available in several European countries.
