On the surface of Bosten Lake in Xinjiang, the "ice and snow mountains" have different shapes, some are like "wood houses" and some are like "sand dunes".

Pushing ice refers to the natural phenomenon that the ice on the lake surface breaks and rises when the ice and snow gradually melt.

According to Wang Fengying, a meteorological engineer from the Meteorological Bureau of Bohu County, Xinjiang, ice pushing phenomenon occurs in Bosten Lake every spring. This phenomenon is mainly due to the temperature warming in spring and the lake ice begins to melt. The ice layer melts differently due to different lake depths. Under the action of water and current, the ice layer moves to the shore. The ice blocks pile up to form peculiar landscapes such as icebergs and ice peaks. The higher the wind, the higher the ice layer is pushed up. This year due to the faster climate warming, the ice pushing phenomenon is also earlier than previous years Nearly 15 days.
